BiG Local Fest April 13th, 2024: A Spectacular Day of Community Celebration and Historical Milestones at Circus Square Park

On April 13th, 2024, Circus Square Park was alive with excitement as BiG Local Fest 2024 unfolded. Over 2500 attendees enjoyed a day filled with music, food, entertainment, and community connections. The atmosphere was electric, with locals and visitors alike coming together to celebrate the vibrant spirit of our city.

The festival boasted an impressive lineup of musical performances that set the stage for an unforgettable day. From soulful ballads to energetic beats, the music resonated throughout the park, providing the perfect backdrop for a day of celebration.

Amidst the festivities, attendees had the opportunity to explore a variety of vendors and booths, each offering unique products and services. From handmade crafts to mouthwatering treats, there was something for everyone to enjoy, and connections were made that will undoubtedly strengthen our community bonds.

Of course, no festival would be complete without delicious food and beverages, and BiG Local Fest 2024 did not disappoint. Attendees were treated to an array of culinary delights, from savory street food to refreshing drinks, ensuring that no appetite went unsatisfied.

One of the highlights of the day was the Kids Zone, where young attendees reveled in a day of fun-filled activities and games. Laughter filled the air as children explored, played, and made memories that will last a lifetime.

Behind the scenes, the success of BiG Local Fest 2024 was made possible by the dedication and hard work of volunteers, sponsors, vendors, musicians, and BiG Local Club members. Their tireless efforts were instrumental in bringing the event to life, and their contributions deserve heartfelt recognition and appreciation.

In addition to celebrating community spirit, BiG Local Fest 2024 also served as an opportunity to honor a local hero. Herb McKinney, father of founding member Patrick McKinney, was recognized for his brave efforts to desegregate the local fire and EMT departments. As the first Black captain of the fire department and the first Black EMT in Bowling Green, his trailblazing achievements are a testament to the power of courage and perseverance in the face of adversity.

As the sun set on Circus Square Park and the festivities drew to a close, the legacy of BiG Local Fest 2024 lived on in the hearts and minds of all who attended. It was a day filled with joy, unity, and celebration—a true reflection of the strength and resilience of our community. Here's to many more years of coming together to celebrate all that makes us BiG Local!
